Chapter 1032: The Remaining Four
When the blood ossuary restraining Li Luo was shattered, he noticed that there were three other sources of energy nearby as well. Turning his head to look, he first saw Li Lingjing emerge from the entrapment.
He wasn't surprised that she had managed to escape. She was a special case, and even though she seemed to be a nine-pearl, he could not truly fathom the depths of her power.
His gaze then turned towards the remaining two figures, and a look of surprise surfaced on his face.
It was actually Qin Yi and Lu Qing'er. All of this was out of Li Luo's expectations. He had expected it to be Mu Yao or Li Wuyuan, one of those at the Lesser Heavenly Resonance Tier. Instead, the weaker Qin Yi and Lu Qing'er had managed to escape.
Li Luo's gaze swept over Lu Qing'er, and he realized that her long hair was gradually turning an icy blue and her body was radiating an intense chill.
As she stood there in mid air, all of the ice energy in the surroundings surged into her, forming a layer of ice beneath her. If one looked closely, they would see some esoteric, icy runes appear on her jade like skin.
Most striking of all were the wings made of ice behind her. They looked like they were made of crystals condensed of the purest ice, transparent and pristine. As they flapped, cold air circulated around her and powdery snow fell onto the sea beneath.
Lu Qing'er was like the living embodiment of a snow fairy.
Li Luo was shocked at this sight. The energy coming from her surpa.s.sed that of Mu Yao. Perhaps it was because the Spiritual Resonance Cave's restrictions made it difficult to surpa.s.s the Lesser Heavenly Resonance Tier. Regardless, she had used her extremely high-grade ice resonant power to break through the Blood Ossuary Seal.
Qin Yi was no different. Her long dress fluttered in the wind as she gracefully floated in the air. A bright, light-blue moon hung in the air behind her. It looked like a planet with an endless ocean where huge waves surged into its sky.
Strong fluctuations of energy pulsated from her, but if one were to observe closely, this energy did not originate from her body but from the light-blue moon.
As Li Luo examined the two mighty ladies, he couldn't help but shake his head. It seemed that he had underestimated these geniuses with extraordinary backgrounds. Since he could borrow the power of the Three-tailed Heavenly Wolf to a.s.sist him, it was no surprise that others had their own unique methods to bolster themselves.
"Both of you have concealed your strength deeply." Li Luo sighed.
Lu Qing'er glanced at him as she said in a voice as cold as the deepest winter, but also intimate, soft, and warm, "This is my last life-saving art. I would not have brought it out if I wasn't truly desperate."
Qin Yi lightly added, "It seems that even though we have all brought out our hidden aces, it's still hard to breach the cave's rules."
The four of them had utilized their own special means to deal with the Blood Ossuary Seal, but the True Devil Other was an una.s.sailable existence. An enemy at the Duke Stage was not something they could overcome with their current means.
Li Lingjing approached Li Luo. Her lips trembled and her voice was transmitted into his ears. "The True Devil Other is looking for me. If I'm truly not equal, I will obstruct it. Take the opportunity to escape, and so long as you can leave this area, you might be able to live if you borrow the aid of the wards in the Spiritual Resonance Cave."
Li Luo replied with a smile as he shook his head, "There's no need to do so. I don't believe it can do so."
Hearing his stubborn reply, Li Lingjing felt a little frustrated. "Use your brain a little. You might still have trump cards to play, but you're only at the Heavenly Pearl Tier. You don't have the a.s.sistance of the Green Nether Banner to fight it. When faced with a True Devil Other, the smart thing is to escape!"
Li Luo sighed and shook his head yet again. If Li Lingjing were to fall into the grasp of this Other, she would definitely be devoured, so how could he stand by idly and watch her give up her life for a chance for him to escape?
Before Li Lingjing could continue to chastise him, the True Devil Other grinned and lifted its hand, forming another seal with its finger

When the seal was completed, the expressions of the four changed yet again. They could see that the blood ossuaries that were previously floating atop the sea had their lids slide open.
But the four didn't feel any joy when the ossuaries were open; their hearts were chilled by the sight. The people who had originally been sealed within all strode out, their faces covered in blood-red runes. The runes seemed to have been engraved into their flesh and were like parasitic worms, devouring their strength. All of their eyes had turned stygian black, and not a single trace of white could be seen.
Qin Yi's expression changed as she shouted, "Be careful! They have already been corrupted and controlled!"
Li Luo's eyes turned gloomy as he glanced at the familiar figures. Even Li Fengyi, Li Jingtao, and Li Fuling had all fallen under its control. Blood was oozing from every pore on their bodies.
The True Devil Other possessed enough strength to suppress them with utmost ease, yet it had chosen not to take action personally. Instead, it had possessed their companions to slaughter them.
It was like a cat toying with a mouse. The four would gradually crumble amidst this despairing situation.
Li Luo felt fury well up within him. "This Other is truly warped. It's the embodiment of the human race's negativity, utilizing the most ruthless and cruelest methods."
Bang!
At this point, their previous companions soared into the sky after leaving the confines of the blood ossuaries, shooting towards the four.
Blood-red corruption wafted from their bodies. Thanks the Soul Eater True Devil's influence, all of them had been empowered!
"There are too many. We have to pull apart the distance between us." Lu Qing'er was the first to speak as she stared at the familiar figures shooting towards them. As many of them were friends, being surrounded would leave them helpless, so it was best to trap them.
Lu Qing'er removed her ice silk gloves, revealing her flawless, jade-like hands. The ice wings behind her flapped slowly, and the air turned biting cold.
Kacha! Kacha!
Frost condensed in the air, and an icy, ethereal voice sounded out a moment later. "Duke Art: White Lotus Frost Seal!"
All of a sudden, the once-companions began to pause in their tracks. Ice elemental worldly natural energy condensed beneath their feet, then white lotuses began to bloom a few breaths later. A frightening chill spread out after all of them were firmly sealed within the white lotuses. The weaker ones, like Li Fengyi, Li Jingtao, and Deng Fengxian, were firmly rooted in place. However, the strongest ones, like Mu Yao, Li Wuyuan, and Zong Sha, were able to swiftly break out, bellowing as they continued their mindless rush towards the four.
Li Lingjing's gaze turned frigid as she grasped the Aquamarine Bamboo Python Staff tightly. Her nine Heavenly Pearls materialized, then they burst with radiant light, devouring copious amounts of worldly natural energy. At the same time, a gigantic Abyssal Serpent manifested behind her.
She directly rushed towards Mu Yao and Zong Sha, intending to tie two of them down.
As Qin Ying pierced through the sky, the spear in his hand transformed in to a myriad of blood-red skewers that struck at Li Luo.
"Elder Brother Qin Ying." Qin Yi sighed lightly as the Boundless Heavy Ocean Pearl in her hand shook. All one could see was dark-blue water pouring out of it, transforming into a gigantic water dragon that immediately obstructed all of the elites from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Qing.
Lu Qing'er similarly took action and waved her hand towards Elder Sister Jin. Frost condensed in the air before blasting out a stream of numerous icicles, forcing her to take cover.
Everyone intended to handle their own people. Although they were at a numbers disadvantage, they were able to even the odds thanks to the aid of their trump cards.
Li Luo continued to float in the air as he glanced at the familiar figures before him. They were the elites from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li led by Li Wuyuan, including the likes of Li Guan and Li Fuling.
However, their expressions were full of malice at this time. If looks could kill, Li Luo would have already been torn to pieces.
He held the Onyx-Elephant Blade in one hand as he calmly watched the group approaching him. With a thought, the Three-tailed Heavenly Wolf's fiendish energy surged forth from the crimson bracelet once again.
A chaotic fight ensued above the b.l.o.o.d.y sea.
Meanwhile, the True Devil Other continued to sit atop the blood lotus a distance away, enjoying the sight of the former allies engaging in mutual slaughter, its expression becoming even more compa.s.sionate.
"How impressive. They are truly four peak-level geniuses. They must be incomparably delectable... I've had so few of them in recent years."
The four burst forth with all their power amidst the brawl, constantly repelling the puppets that were throwing themselves at them. Yet whenever the former companions lost strength, the True Devil Other would stimulate the sea of blood and revive the puppets once again.
As a result, the four were faced with an endless gauntlet of opponents to defeat.
Based on the current situation, they would eventually suffocate to death or tire themselves out.
"Keep struggling. The final survivor will win the grand prize of being savored by me... one bite at a time," the True Devil gloated with a warm smile.
The smile on its face intensified as it observed the expressions of the four.
However, this emotion only lasted for a moment. It suddenly felt like something just wasn't quite right. It was an instinctive feeling. Did it happen to have overlooked something?
As the smile on the True Devil Other's face receded, it swept its gaze across each of the four once again. A few moments later, his gaze rested upon Li Luo!
It was him!
Something was up!
